Wonderful stay at this grand old hotel. Staff are so freindly and the hotel feels very special and historic. It's in a great location, just on the edge of the centre and walking distance to all the attractions. The hotel makes you feel like you are stepping back in time, there's a real sense of grandeur. Breakfast is excellent, really delicious cooked to order and great service team too. Our room was really lovely. Super comfortable bed and wonderful views acorss the city and towards Mount Edgcombe. The bathroom was a little bit tired but very clean and a nice strong shower. Certainly nothing to complain about. The incredible staircase and relaxed ambience is really special, we love the vibe here and will certainly choose Duke of Cornwall again for our next Plymouth visit. Car park out the back of the hotel is very handy too - just arrive early to get a spot.

As well as looking impressive in the front from the street, the communal area and stair-well of this hotel building have the "wow" factor that is so good to see in an older hotel. The decor is beautiful, and well cared for. We had a "superior" room, which was spacious, warm and with two windows. The large bathroom had a bath and separate shower. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order - so much better than lukewarm buffet food. The location is perfect for anyone going to, or (as we were) coming back from, France on Brittany Ferries. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. I absolutely loved, and totally approved of, the folded information sheet that doubled up as the wallet for the door key card. All hotels should follow suit!!

We booked this because we were attending a show in Plymouth Pavilions and wanted to make a night of it. Beautiful old hotel, we had a room with a sea view which made it even more special. We paid to be half board and the evening meal was excellent. Staff were just the right amount of friendly. Breakfast was basic but good, options were up to 8 items from the full English list with toast so you could do eggs on toast etc if full English is too much. Also croissants and pan au Chocolat, yogurt, fruit and cereal etc. This was a lovely night's getaway for my partner and I and definitely so where we would consider again.

Stunning hotel I used to live in Plymouth and had no idea how gorgeous this hotel is 😍 My partner also became interested as the receptionist chatted happily about the hidden bar to earnest shackleton. Lovely helpful staff, from the maintenance manager, reception & concierge, .the list goes on... The hotel is dated, but that's why I loved it so much. It's also spotless! I genuinely couldn't get over how beautiful this place is, but this is our preference. We stayed in a budget room through choice as we went to a party. However, we are planning to stay again in the shackleton suite 😀

The hotel is beautiful and reminiscent of a bygone era. The room was well kept and clean. I booked breakfast every morning which was lovely. It really does feel special to stay in such elegant accommodation and the staff are cheerful and attentive. You need to spend a little time figuring out on street parking (the hotel car park is often full), but I never had any problem finding parking.
